Check out the photo video on Youtube - type in: walk n wheels aissaigon
What a day on Friday. Wheelers and walkers of all ages and sizes were gearing up to do as many laps as possible. Dynatots 3 to Year 1 started off at the Lotus Campus and Years 2 to 5 from Cherry Blossom - two different campus in the same compound (you want to hear the names of the other streets!!)
So, it was "ready, set, go" and the little ones were off. Hey, hang on ..... who told the big kids they were to ride up Lotus in the opposite direction! Yikes! So here we have loads of little ones peddling as fast as they can as the big kids are charging at them the other way .... and I was running with to keep up supposedly to maintain order.
Sure enough, with only 30 seconds into the event, a kid spills over and comes crashing to the ground. So as I tend to him all the kids just keep cycling passed me and head off in the wrong direction at the end of the street!
It took another 10 minutes and a lot of running to get everyone going the right direction and onto the right route. And it all calmed down as participants thinned out going their own pace.
However, after about 40 minutes of fast and furious action, the little ones began to wilt in the temperature and humidity. So they were all called in a little early.
Flynn was pleased with his 8km and although he would have liked to have done more .... was rather pleased to be taking a break. Little did he know that a break meant the end of the ride.
Thank you to everyone who donated. We think Flynn may have raised the most - over $500. If so, he will get to present the cheque to Saigon Children's Charity (click on the link in previous blog) and will be photographed for the local magazine. We'll keep you posted.
As Jaom and I were busy with crowd control, we don't have any photos of our own. They will be posted when we get them.
Cheers
